Spinning Demonstration

I got to spin for those who attended the local art fair in Green Bay Wisconsin, Arti Gras.  I was a bit nervous at first but soon felt comfortable demonstrating my spinning skills.  I was there over the weekend with the fiber arts guild I'm apart of, The Traveling Treadlers.  I brought my ladybug spinning wheel and answered many questions about making yarn.  It was fun to let others understand the craft.

Treasury Tuesday: How Does Your Garden Grow?

What Treasury Tuesday on Thursday?!  That is right, life is getting busy.  I will be demonstrating my spinning skills at a local art show and I have been practicing.  I'll show you what I have been up to and let you know how the show went.  In the mean time I am getting ready for spring.  I plan on having a flower garden this year so I created a treasury of inspiration.  It is going to be filled with beautiful flowers that I  can use to dye fiber and my hand spun yarn.  I can't wait.

My Studio

I want to invite you inside my studio.  About a moth ago my studio was in my very cold basement, so it wasn't getting much use.  I asked my very wonderful husband to turn part of our living room into my new studio.  He agreed.  We don't entertain guest very often (both of our boys birthday's are in the summer so everyone could just go outside) and the kids toys were taking over the living room anyways so making the living room smaller would work for our family.

It is nice because I can work when the kids are playing nicely (only if that could happen more often) in the living room, or I can put on a movie while I work at the table.  It is nice and warm upstairs too.  Nap time is a great time of day because I can get some work done without interruptions and I'm really close by when they wake up.
I have my computer in the corner and work table next to it.  I keep my spinning wheel and fiber in my studio as well.  I recently put up a gate to block the children from entering because I don't want anything broken.  The hardest thing is trying to keep the area clean, since I am a bit messy.  I would love to figure out some way to disguise the studio from the living room part a little better.  Any suggestions?  Right now it when you walk in it is like whoa there is a studio behind your couch.

February Fiber

It's the last day of February so I should probably share with you my fiber of the month from the Woolgathering.  The roving is Blue Faced Leicester (BFL) and Tussah Silk.  It is really soft and I can't wait to spin it up.

Treasury Tuesday: Created by My Two Year Old

That is right even a two year old can find great handmade creations on Etsy!  My toddler wouldn't nap and I wanted to make a treasury for the blog.  So, I had my 2 and a half year old pick items using the Etsy Taste Test feature, to create this treasury.  I put together the final grouping but asked his approval of my choices. I think he did a really great job. Don't you think?
